History

So, here’s where the name came from. Mike Rose (who played with Jerry’s Kids and many other seminal Albuquerque bands, including Jet Girls) and I were sitting around playing guitars and trying to see who could steal the most moves from Keith Richards, when D.D. Wiggley (great photographer!) walked in and said, “Well, if it isn’t the dueling Keiths!”  

So Mike and I wrote a bunch of pretty darn good rock songs and played a whole bunch of Stones songs and started a band. We later recruited Simon to sing for us, and Scott Meacham (one of the early 80’s punks) to play bass. Later we renamed ourselves the Renegades, and had Joey Abbin sing. Joey was one of the first Albuquerque punks, and created a scene in the middle of this desert. He put on shows with almost every punk band known or unknown and had them sleep on his floor at the legendary Stanford house.
