Old Town photo shoot. We had more photo shoots than rehearsals.

The world’s only “Glitterbilly” band. Combining my love for the original glam/glitter period and rockabilly, this band took excess to new heights. The inimitable Simon Whiteley fronted a seven piece band who played traditional rockabilly while dressed in high glam fashion. There were no clubs in Albuquerque at the time where we could play, so we rented out union halls and played parties with all of our friends, who also had bands. There were about 100 people in the underground scene at the time.

Any other town might have divided us into “punks”, “rockabillies”, “art-types”, but Albuquerque united us. The music at any given party would include Joy Division, Black Flag, Alex Harvey, Eddie Cochran…you get the idea. My proudest moment was getting thrown out of the Albuquerque Airport with Simon. We went to pick up Rockin’ Dave, and Simon was wearing pieces of rabbit fur strapped onto his skin with strips of leather, and I had a dress and fishnets. We told the security guard that he couldn’t throw us out, but he patted his gun and assured us that he could. The old west dies hard.

We played live on KUNM and this recording is available on a compilation CD also featuring local rockabilly legends the Breakers and the Broadway Elks from Paul at Natural Sound. AxNxMx !
